How we formulate
Three rules, and what each one costs us.
Short lists
Eleven ingredients in the longest formula. Every one is there to do something, and the ones that only make a label look impressive are not in it.
Percentages stated
A 10% niacinamide and a 0.5% niacinamide are different products sold under the same word. Ours is on the front of the box.
No claim we cannot show
No "clinically proven" without the study, and no before-and-after photography. It costs us conversions and we have decided we can live with it.
A routine that fits four minutes
In this order. Skipping step three is fine; skipping step four is not.
Cleanse
Gel cleanser, morning and night. Thirty seconds is enough and longer is not better.
Treat
Serum on damp skin. One of ours, not three — actives stacked on each other mostly cancel out.
Hydrate
The gel-cream if your skin is oily, the balm if it is not. Optional in a Kochi August.
Protect
SPF every morning without exception. It is the only step in this list with strong evidence behind it.

Made in Kochi, in batches we can trace
Everything is made in a licensed facility in Kochi in batches of about four hundred units, and the batch number on your jar maps to a record we keep for three years. Skincare is a category where the manufacturing is almost always somebody else and almost never named, which is why we name ours. Nothing here is tested on animals and nothing is sold in a market that requires it.
When a formula changes
We email when an ingredient list changes or a batch is recalled. Four or five times a year, and never a sale.

Before you buy
Two of these tell you not to.
Will this clear my acne?
Probably not on its own. Persistent acne is a medical condition and the things that reliably treat it — retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, oral medication — are mostly prescription. Our barrier serum helps with the irritation those cause. Anyone selling you a cream as an acne cure is selling you something else.
Why so few products?
Because a routine of nine steps is mostly a sales strategy. Four products do the work and the fifth onward is where the margin is. When we find something the range genuinely lacks we will add it, and we have added one product in three years.
Is "natural" better?
No, and we would rather say so on our own site. Plenty of plant extracts are irritants and plenty of synthesised ingredients are gentler and better studied. We use both and pick on evidence rather than on origin, which is why the word does not appear on our labels.
What if it does not suit me?
Every first order ships with a patch-test sample — use that before the full jar. If you react, send the unopened jar back within sixty days for a full refund including shipping. About one order in thirty comes back, which is a number we would rather publish than average away.
